We are seeking a seasoned Program Manager (PM) to enhance our grantmaking initiatives and optimize our program offering. This vital role, reporting directly to the Executive Director, involves steering our community-centered programs and ensuring operational excellence across the Foundation's grantmaking activities. The position requires a flexible schedule, including occasional evening and weekend commitments.
KEY responsibilities
The Program Manager will strengthen and refine the Foundation's grantmaking processes and program strategies in close collaboration with the Executive Director and Operations Manager. They will manage a diverse portfolio of over 80 grants annually, overseeing proposal reviews, due diligence, program evaluation, and grantee engagement. Additionally, they will lead the management and analysis of grantee data, ensuring accurate tracking, assessment, and reporting of program outcomes and impact. Working closely with the Operations Manager, they will maintain robust systems for data collection, storage, and analysis to inform strategic decision-making and enhance transparency with stakeholders. The role also includes preparing regular updates and presentations for board meetings on grantees and the community landscape.
The Program Manager will engage with community partners and stakeholders through ongoing communication, site visits, and strategic meetings to strengthen program impact and reach, as well as represent the Foundation at community events when needed. They will coordinate and facilitate events with grantees, community organizations, youth advisors, and internal teams, providing both administrative and strategic support. Additionally, they will develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies in collaboration with the Executive Director, aligned with the Foundation’s goals and objectives. Working with the Executive Director and vendors, they will enhance the Foundation's digital presence, including website updates, social media management, and email campaigns. Other tasks may be assigned to support the Executive Director as needed.
Job Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in program management preferably within a grantmaking or nonprofit organization.
- Proven track record of effective community engagement and program development.
- Strong background in monitoring and evaluation of programs, including data analysis and reporting
- Ability to simultaneously manage a number of projects, and streamline and implement processes that create speed, efficiency, and support rapidly shifting business demands.
- Masterful organizational, verbal and written communication, and leadership skills, demonstrated by previous professional success.
- Strong collaborative spirit with excellent communication skills, capable of interacting with diverse groups including youth, community leaders, and organizational partners.
- Ability to lead and manage a team, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Innovative and critical thinker, comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting in a dynamic environment.
- In-depth understanding of the Los Angeles community and the creative economy is highly desirable.
- Experience with digital communication tools and platforms as well as foundation-related software, database systems, and operational management technologies.
