Current Opportunity: Officer, Employer Partnerships, Dell Scholars – Austin, Texas
The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation currently has an open position for an Employer Partnerships Officer on the Dell Scholars team, based in Austin, Texas, reporting to the Manager of Career Services. This is an individual contributor role and requires that the person is based in Austin, TX.
The Position
As a member of our Dell Scholars team, the Employer Partnerships Officer will lead the development of our employer network. The candidate should have a passion for social impact and a student-first mindset. This role will partner with our Career Services Officer to ensure that our scholars have a successful pathway to career and/or graduate school enrollment upon the completion of their undergraduate degree. This role requires a candidate who is driven to solve complex problems and is skilled at building sustainable and long-lasting employer relationships.
What will you do?
Cultivate Relationships: Lead the recruitment of our employer and graduate school partners. With an eye toward the industries and institutions that align to our scholars’ strengths, you will advocate for the excellence of our scholars, identify partner needs, and implement outreach strategies. With a focus on talent recruitment and social/community impact leads, your sourcing will further the opportunities for our scholars through programmatic/engagement opportunities as well as direct employment and/or internship placement.
Marketing & Communication: Work in partnership with the Career Services Manager and Career Services Officer to:
- Empower scholars to advocate their strengths in an ever-changing employment environment
- Market the strengths of our scholars externally to employers and graduate schools
Project Management: Lead projects that will increase opportunities for scholars (e.g. workshops and career-events – in-person and virtual). Track the success of employer and graduate school relationships and outcomes. Analyze data to assess effectiveness and conduct market research to maximize trends and growth areas (e.g. which employers/industries to prioritize, geographic proximity, etc.). Use this information to further tailor outreach strategy and make recommendations to Career Services Manager. Experience with data accuracy, tracking, and documentation, timeline management and comfort with tech-based platforms (Tableau, excel, survey tools) preferred.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Coach and support scholars (one-on-one and in groups) with a focus on career readiness best-practices and mitigating barriers unique to our scholar experience
- Increase relationships with our program alumni to support scholar career growth and development and identify potential opportunities for employment pipelines
- Understanding of regional/local job markets (with a focus on Texas, California, and Minnesota) and the ability to market and expand the visibility of Dell Scholars in these markets (and others)
Knowledge and minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience
- Corporate experience in talent recruitment/acquisition preferred
- Knowledge of the social impact space; experience with students an added plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comfort engaging effectively and building relationships with outside partners/organizations
- Ability to think strategically about skills development to meet evolving student and employer needs for career readiness and job skills
- Comfort working with technology and data to effectively measure impact and create efficiencies when serving the needs of Scholar population
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Able to collaborate well with interdepartmental teams (e.g., collaborate with Dell Scholars Retention and Communications team members – as well as others in the foundation)
- Ability to take direction and complete tasks independently
- Experience networking in the college to career space
